Blogging?

Sooo I haven't been doing blogs and its not that I don't want to but I just don't feel like it. I don't really know if anyone is actually reading these or not so what's the point sometimes? Whatever though.. Maybe I should just focus on my YouTube videos and then if people want me to start blogging again then I will... but that probably won't be awhile since I only have 50 subscribers.. Maybe when I get 1,000 subscribers they will want to see more of this stuff? I don't know but for now with school starting I am going to just work on videos for now. Maybe now and then do a blog but don't be expecting them... Unless people want them... Ahhh I don't know haha. Sooo for now... I'm just going to leave my blogging with "..."

NOTW

I decided to change these Nail of the Days to Nail of the Weeks. Because it's not like I change my nails everyday. But I DO change my nails every week. This week I used one of MacBarbie07 or Bethany's nail tutorials. Lately I have been into color blocking but I thought tiger stripes would pull it together instead of just placing random colors on your nails. Weekend Plans, Music, Kesha Concert

It is August. Already? But this hs actually been the month I have been waiting for! So hopefully this weekend I will get to go school clothes shopping with my dad so I can put up more of my back to school videos! And next weekend I am going to see my step grandma and grandpa. That sounds really weird and don't worry, I don't actually call them that. Then the weekend after that is when I am going to CANADA! Ahhhh I am SO excited I can't contain my excitement right now... And while I am there I will either make one big vlog of different clips or maybe if I can find a computer then I will put up separate ones (I don't have a laptop, just the iPad). Theeen the weekend after that is when I get to go and get my class schedule for school, buy my yearbook, take my picture, stuff like that. And then the week after THHAAAT I am going to a low budget concert (literally. The tickets were only $20!!) it is just a mix of different artists that aren't very popular but I am excited to see one of the bands called Awolnation. And if you go look it up you may be surprised to know I do like that kind of music (I guess you can call it Alternative music?) I actually like a variety of music. Alternative, Pop, Some Rock, Some Country, Some Rap, Some R&B, so I am not your average Kesha lover. Speaking of Kesha, I would say I am going to her concert the weekend after that. But unfortunately I am not. I have my own money and all but my mom doesn't really like Kesha and thinks she is Vulgar. Which I guess you could say that since the tour is called 'Get Sleazy' but I don't really pay attention to the meaning of a song, if I hear a song and I like it then... I like it. And I may be singing along to it whether it is about sleazy people or fireworks. Hahaha so unless I can find someone to take me to the Kesha concert then... I am out of luck..:(

So I guess I found something to take up all this space? Well it may not be that much but in this little text box it kinda seems like it... But at least I got a blog post up! Even if there is no one reading it, it always feels nice to just write whatever comes to mind.

NOTD?

I want to start doing nail of the days. I have been eperimenting more with nail designs lately and i love showing them off! Lol! I was going to do my first nail tutorial on these nails but I saw that beautybaby44 already had a tutorial and it was basically the same thing. But I was so proud of myself because I am getting pretty good at doing nails and am slowly turning into a nail polish junkie.... Greatt. Makeup and Nails? I don't have THAT much money... But I did try hinting to my mom that I thought nail polishes were great stocking stuffers at Christmas time but I should probably tell her that in December. Not July. Speaking of July it is pretty much over. What the heck? Summer is going by really fast. I haven't had the most exciting Summer (I guess thats why I have had so many videos up...) but I have had some fun times. And in August I am especially excited because I will be going to CANADA! I LOVE Canada! And super excited to do hotel room tours, follow me around vlogs, and whats in my suitcase, travel makeup bag... PLUS I have to do my back to school series... Ahhhh! So many videos I want to do! So little time! Well before I go on anymore I am going to restrain myself. Talk to you in my next blog post!

1. How did you find out about the beauty community on YouTube? I actually don't remember too well. I just remember somehow stumbling across one of Blair's (juicystar07) videos and then I just kept watching!

2. Sephora OR Ulta? Ulta because I love that it has everything! Drugstore makeup, Highend makeup, hair salon, hair products, nail products... I love it!

3. Facebook OR Twitter? I love Facebook... But I do Twitter updates more often. I basically only use my Facebook for friends and photos but I don't go on there as much as I used to.

4. Gel, liquid, or pencil liner? Pencil eyeliner. I use it most often but if I do use something else I like to use my liquid eyeliner.

5. What are the last 3 beauty related things you bought? I bought a waterproof mascara for camp, a body wash from crabtree and Evelyn, and my Mac paint pot.

6. How much time do you spend on YouTube a day? ....a lot.

7. Natural or smokey eye? Hum I want to say natural but I do like to smoke out my shadows a lot.

8. Bright colors or light colors? It really depends on what mood I am in!

9. Red lips OR pink lips? If you can pull of red then go for it! But for me I have to say pink lips.

10. Curly hair or straight hair? I wear my hair straight mostly. But I LOVE when I get to curl my hair!

11. Going out or staying in? I love going out but I stay in alot.

12. Pets or no pets? Pets! I don't think I can live without my furry friends! Lol!

13. Single or taken? Single...

14. Texting or talking on the phone? I text most often. But I love getting to have those long phone calls with friends:)

ML: Camp, Hair Trends

So I got back from camp on Saturday and it was amazing. I LOVE camp. This is only my 3rd year at this camp but I love going there.I get to see my two camp besties while I'm there and I love having them. I think it's great to have friends away from school. You can talk about anything without worrying they might go stab you in the back the next day telling everyone at school. It gives you a little bit of a break from all of your drama or problems. Before camp it was not a good week. I was arguing with my dad and I was not having a good week at all. But once I got to camp it was like I just forgot about everything and didn't have to worry. I am do happy I found this camp and will definitely keep going until I can be a P.A. Which is a program assistant. You guys may call it a camp counselor but it is just when after you are done going to camp you can help out and get to pick out a camp nickname. I think mine will be shutterbug because I had brought my camera and I took A LOT of pictures. And I asked one of my leaders if they had any suggestions and she said shutterbug and I think it is pretty cute and creative because I definitely wouldn't have thought of it...
On the other hand I am excited to be back also and still have a lot of videos to catch up on too... I was watching one girl (I think her username is xoashleylovesyou but I am too lazy to look...) and she had dip dyed her hair. I am definitely seeing this new trend starting to pop up! I kind of want to try it... But one: I have never dyed my hair so I don't know if it will affect my natural color. And two: what if I don't like it?
Not sure if I want to follow this trend or not but I know Lauren Conrad tried it out and it look fabulous. And Sharpay from High School Musical's song "Fabulous" just popped into my head... I never say fabulous... What the heck? Anyway I think this is a long enough little blog. Talk to you guys later!

"Droopy Eyelashes"?

Nobody wants droopy lashes. They want long, voluminous lashes. But not every girl is blessed with them. I most certainly am not. My eyelashes are pretty short actually. If you are dealing with "droopy lashes" then here are some tips I have found:

1. If you already have thick lashes then go for a more wet formula. But otherwise stay away from them. It weighs down your lashes making them even more droopy. It is like putting a heavy, wet hair product on thin hair. It just looks weighed down, greasy, and unattractive.

2. Use a heated eyelash curler. Think of it this way, if you were to curl your hair with a curling iron without the heat it definitely would not curl as well. I know I am talking about different kinds of hair but it is basically the same thing. People with awesome lashes might not even have to worry about using a heated eyelash curler because some lashes are just easier to curl and some aren't. I wish I could speak from personal experience but I don't curl my lashes all of the time but it is like when some of my friends it only takes them 10-15 minutes to curl their hair. But for me it takes a bit longer because I have harder to curl hair.

3. It can also help to curl your lashes in segments. So depending on your lash length, split up your lashes into 2 or 3 segments and curl your lashes. An example would be curling them at your root, then move to the middle of your lashes then the top of your lashes. But don't clamp down your eyelash curler to hard or too long or else it can leave dents in your lashes.

4. Another thing that may help that I sometimes use, is using a waterproof mascara. Most mascaras that aren't waterproof are water based. So it is like putting water on straight hair that is curled. It ruins the curl. But I know that most people curl their lashes and use regular mascara and they like the results. This is just all part of your personal preference.

Not amazing at blending but perfect for applying color in the crease or outer corner.

 These lip glosses are so sticky! Would not recommend them. They also seem to leave a sticky residue.

Mineral Blushes

I actually think these blushes are great quality and give the perfect amount of pigmentation!

Mineral Glow

I personally think this powder is too shimmery. In the sunlight you could be mistaken as a vampire with this stuff all over.

Mineral Eyeshadow

I LOVE this as a highlight! It has turned into one of my favorite inner corner highlight and using whatever is left on my brush for the brow bone. LOVE THIS!

MAC.

If you guys saw my latest video then you know that I got my first MAC product. And I was going crazy. You know I really don't even know what started my obsession with makeup. But ever since last Summer I have been watching makeup gurus on YouTube ever since. I talk about her all the time but Juicystar07 was the first person I started watching on YouTube and I still watch her today. And it probably doesn't help that she had a big makeup collection that makes me want more makeup. I drive my mom crazy with it. Just randomly I will send her a text about some product that I think is amazing. But I have learned that I don't ALWAYS HAVE to get high end. When I bought my first high end product (the Urban Decay Vegan palette) I was so excited. But I know that I do not have some unlimited debit card to go spend on whatever makeup I want. But I am happy that the people like me who don't really have all that many high end products have someone to watch so then maybe they don't feel lime I did where I always wanted the newest thing. Sure I will see something and probably automatically add it to my wish list but I am okay with that. I can spend all day just finding new products and adding it to my "wish list". But at least my birthday (November) and (Christmas) and even school shopping in August is coming up so.. maybe I don't have to wait TOOO long for some of these fancy things... ;)

Today's Video: My Summer Trends

So glad to finally get this up! Filmed this a few days ago and tried uploading it like 3 times but I guess the.. 4th time is the charm? Don't think that is how it goes but oh well! I love watching people's summer favorites so it gives me some new products to add to my "wishlist" Which is no doubt... SUPER long. I was thinking of doing  blogpost on my wishlist but... It changes all the time since I am always online searching for new products and it would be ALOT of typing... hahah. But maybe I will do it in maybe a week or two? Hope you guys enjoyed this video! Summer Days

For me it is summer time.Some peope may have some slumber party, hot date, or raging party to go to. Being the loner self I am, of course I don't have any of these exciting things to go to. So what do I do during my Summer Days? I wake up (usually sometime in the afternoon). Stay in bed for another hour. Get up, eat breakfast/lunch. Then all the extra time I have I usually spend by: singing at the top of my lungs (my parent are at work of course...), dancing around with my dogs, stalking people on facebook and twitter, watching Lost on Netflix (episode 94 baby!), replogging and blogging on tumblr and on here, filming random videos, cruise around online, doing my makeup, taking random pictures of myself, more singing at the top of my lungs, chores. Different things like those keep me entertined on my lazy summer days. Not very exciting huh? As long as I get my sleep I am content so... Goodnight lovelies(:
Well... Not really goodnight... Knowing me I will probably search random YouTube videos...

Today's Video: Purple Skies(with Amrit)

This was filmed on the 4th of July. I wasn't planning on filming a video but I asked my friend if she wanted me to do her makeup and she said yes so I asked if she wanted neutral colors or bright colors and being the summer time of course she wanted bright colors. She has a beautiful dark complexion and in the video she had no facemakeup. I know, jealous right? Now, I have fair skin, and blue eyes. So I wasn't very familiar with what would go with her dark skin and brown eyes. So what did I do? I searched on YouTube and Google Images and ended up with this picture which she picked out:

I probably didn't replicate this exact look but I am pretty confident with how it turned out!

Other than that, How did your fourth of July ago? Did you light off fireworks non-stop like me? Or did you sit back and enjoy them like Amrit?



First Post!

Hey Everyone! I'm Laurel Darr and I am 13 and an aspiring beauty guru on YouTube. You may be saying, "Laurel, I thought you already had a blog" But I deleted it and got a new one just cuz. I'm the type of person that changes her mind a million times. Each summer I usually re-decorate my room. I get the cutest shirt and the next week I hate it. Hah sometimes that happens with friends too... Anyway off of that little rant. This is my new and improved blog posting about my life, my current loves, outfit of the days, hauls, reviews and maybe first impressions. I will also post the different products I use in my tutorials.

My goal is to post on here 3-5 times a week so I guess this counts as one? But you know me and schedules if you watch me on Youtube;)But I really will try. And this blog will also help(along with my twitter) for you guys to know if I am too sick to film or if my camera decides to break again. Hope you enjoy and follow my blog! <3
